Looking for a refreshing, Caribbean-inspired cocktail for your next backyard barbecue or get-together? This Planter’s Punch Cocktail fruity, sweet and as potent as you like it. The recipe is over a century old and still remains a favorite. Made with fruit juices and dark rum, each sip will transport you to a tropical vacation.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz dark rum
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Club soda
  • Ice
  • Pineapple wedge and cherry for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the dark rum, lime juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, and Angostura bitters to the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
  4. Fill a tall glass with ice.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the glass.
  6. Top with club soda.
  7. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.

Variations:

  • Substitute the dark rum with white rum or spiced rum.
  • Adjust the amount of lime juice, pineapple juice, and orange juice to your taste.
  • Add a splash of coconut cream for a creamy twist.
  • Use different fruit juices, such as grapefruit or passionfruit.
  • Add a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon for extra spice.
