Cajun Grilled Shrimp with Mango Habanero Dipping Sauce

These cajun grilled shrimp are sure to be a crowd pleaser at your next backyard cookout. Served with a sweet and spicy homemade mango habanero sauce, they’re the perfect appetizer for seafood lovers. What’s more, they’re super easy to make and they’ll be ready to eat in under 15 minutes. 

Cajun cuisine represents the heart and history of Louisiana. Blending the bold, spicy flavors of the bayou with the tropical sweetness of mango, this recipe is a match made in foodie heaven. Enjoy Cajun grilled shrimp as an hors d’oeuvre, in salads or as a filling for tacos.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large tail-on shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (homemade or store-bought)
  • Wooden skewers

Mango Habanero Sauce:

  • 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced
  • 1 habanero or Scotch bonnet pepper
  • 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Homemade Cajun Seasoning Mix

  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt 

Instructions

  1. Add the shrimp to a large bowl and toss with olive oil and the Cajun seasoning until each shrimp is well-coated. 
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and oil the grates to prevent sticking
  3. Add the shrimp to the wooden skewers, ensuring you leave a little space between them
  4. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they’re opaque and lightly charred. 

You can leave the shrimp on the skewers or opt to remove them. Serve with the mango habanero dipping sauce.
